We recommend starting your research about a month in advance, so you know which features and models you're interested in—and so you can take advantage of when stores unveil their Black Friday deals on laptops and desktops early.
During Small Business Saturday
The day after Black Friday is called Small Business Saturday, and it's a shopping day focused on independent and local stores. If there's a mom-and-pop computer business in your town, this is the day to check out their sales to look for the best deal on computers and other electronic devices.
During Cyber Monday
Miss a sale on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday? Want to buy a new gaming laptop without leaving your bed? Don't worry. Cyber Monday, the Monday after Thanksgiving, is one of the biggest holiday sale events of the year. It's another opportunity to buy a new laptop or computer at a discounted price.
January
When is the best time to buy a computer after the holiday season? January is typically a month for discounts on laptops (including gaming laptops) as stores lower prices to clear out holiday inventory. Just make sure to pay attention to what exactly you're buying and to shop at trusted stores or websites. You don't want to get tricked into buying outdated laptop models.
During holiday weekends
National holidays are another time to look for discounts on computers. If you're looking for a new laptop or desktop around Presidents Day weekend, Memorial Day weekend, and Labor Day weekend, there's a good chance you'll find excellent deals.
Amazon Prime Day
Amazon™ holds two major sale events every year. Prime Day®, in mid-July, offers deep discounts on everything from electronics and toys to fashion and beauty products. Prime Big Deal Days, held ahead of the holidays in October, is another ideal time to buy deeply discounted tech, appliances, gaming bundles, beauty sets, and more. Both are among the best times to buy a laptop or a desktop on sale.
