Turn off all location services on Android

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Location.
  3. Turn off the switch at the top of the screen.

This disables location access for all apps and services on your phone.

Turn off location for specific apps

If you don’t want to disable everything, you can turn off location for individual apps.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Location > App permissions.
  3. Tap the app you want to change.
  4. Choose Don’t allow to block location access.

Disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning

Even with location off, Android can still scan Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals to improve accuracy. You can turn this off too:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Location > Location services.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi scanning and Bluetooth scanning.
  4. Turn both off.

Manage Google Location Accuracy

Android also includes Google Location Accuracy, which uses extra data sources to improve results. To turn it off:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Location > Location services.
  3. Tap Google Location Accuracy.
  4. Turn it off.

How turning off location affects your phone

Disabling location can impact apps and services that rely on it, including:

  • Maps and navigation apps
  • Ride-sharing apps
  • Weather apps that show your current location
  • Lost device recovery services like Find My Device

If you want privacy but still need location occasionally, you can turn it back on at any time.
