At Asurion, we care for you and your tech. Whether we're repairing your favorite devices or showing you how to get past common Samsung tablet issues—we’ve got you covered. Here’s our guide for setting up your Samsung parental controls and setting up Samsung® user profiles.
Where to find Samsung parental control settings
Samsung devices offer robust parental control options that can be accessed through the settings menu. Here’s how to find them:
- Tap the Settings icon from the Home screen or app drawer.
- Scroll down and tap Digital Wellbeing and Parental Controls.
Here you’ll find various tools to manage device usage and restrictions.
Setting up user profiles
Creating user profiles on your Samsung tablet allows you to tailor what the tablet is able to access, including any limits and restrictions you might set up for each user. Profiles can be especially useful if the tablet is shared among different family members. To create user profiles:
- Tap the Settings icon from the Home screen or app drawer.
- Tap Users to add or configure user profiles.
- Choose Add user or profile > Restricted profile to customize the apps and content that are available to this new user.
The devices we love aren’t cheap. Protect them with Asurion Home+.
We’ll cover your favorite home tech for around $1 per day. No receipts or registration forms required.
Setting up parental controls
Setting up parental controls allows for fine-tuning of what content and apps individual users can access—including limits for adult or mature content as needed—ensuring age-appropriate content for every user.
- Tap the Settings icon from the Home screen or app drawer.
- Scroll down, and tap Digital Wellbeing and Parental Controls.
- Tap Parental controls > Get started. You will be prompted to choose your Google® account to manage the parental controls or set up a new account. If the intended user is under 13 years old, an adult will have to create the Google email for them.
Here you can follow the onscreen instructions to make restrictions for content, app usage, and other activities. You can set screen time limits, filter the types of apps and media they can access, and even set a bedtime to limit usage during certain hours.
Set up Samsung Kids on your tablet
Is your tablet user on the younger side? You can always add the Samsung Kids app to the tablet. It takes those parental control limits even further by leaving the apps that can be downloaded up to you, you can add up to 30. All the apps you choose to download will be housed within a child-friendly home screen interface, making it easy for kids to navigate around.
To go back to the standard Samsung home screen or make changes to apps, you’ll have to enter a 4-digit PIN.
- From your home screen, tap Apps > Samsung Kids.
- Enter a new four-digit PIN. Then enter your child’s name and birthday for their profile.
- Tap Accept on the disclaimer.
- Tap Next to add apps or Skip to do it later > Finish.
To change the apps or set time limits for the tablet, you can hit the Samsung Kids app > More options > Parental controls > enter your 4-digit PIN > the three dots in the upper right-hand corner.
You’re not limited to the Samsung Kids app either. You can download the free Google Family Link app to set up similar parental controls.
