Android™ 15 brings new security upgrades to your Google Pixel™ phone—everything from stronger app permissions to on-device threat detection. If you want more control over your privacy, these new features are worth checking out.

At Asurion, we help people keep their devices protected and running smoothly. Whether you're setting up a new Pixel or just want to take advantage of the latest Android updates, here's how to use Android 15's new security settings.

Check your security settings in one place

Android 15 adds a centralized Security & privacy dashboard. Here, you can review everything from screen lock settings to Google Play Protect.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Security & privacy.
  3. You’ll see suggestions at the top and status indicators for different protections.
  4. Tap each item to view or adjust your settings.

Use Private Space for sensitive apps

Private Space is a new feature that lets you hide apps behind an extra layer of authentication.

  1. Go to Settings > Security & privacy > Private Space.
  2. Set up a separate unlock method if prompted.
  3. Add apps like banking, health, or note-taking apps that you want to keep private.
  4. Access them through a hidden launcher folder, protected by your fingerprint or PIN.

Restrict screen sharing and recordings

To protect your personal info, Android 15 allows you to block apps from capturing your screen in sensitive situations.

  1. Open Settings > Security & privacy > App security.
  2. Tap an app to review permissions.
  3. Turn off Allow screen sharing or Allow screenshots if available.

You can also get notified when an app starts recording your screen.

Strengthen biometric authentication

Android 15 improves how your Pixel handles biometric data. You can now control which apps use fingerprint login.

  1. Go to Settings > Security & privacy > Device unlock.
  2. Select Biometric settings.
  3. Manage which apps are allowed to use fingerprint or face unlock.

Check app permissions more often

Android 15 adds tighter controls for location, microphone, and camera access.

  • You’ll now see a pop-up reminder if an app accesses your location in the background.
  • Temporary permission requests give you more ways to say “no” or limit access to one-time use.

To manually adjust permissions:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > See all apps.
  2. Choose an app and tap Permissions.
  3. Toggle permissions like Camera, Location, or Microphone.
