How to connect your controller to an Xbox Series X
Your console supports both wired and wireless setups. Here's how to pair wirelessly:
- Turn on your Xbox Series X.
- Press and hold the Xbox button on your controller to power it on.
- Press the Pair button on the front of your console (next to the USB port).
- Within 20 seconds, press and hold the Pair button on the top of your controller until the Xbox logo flashes.
The light will stop flashing once the controller is connected.
Want to use a wired connection?
Just plug the controller into your Xbox using a USB-C cable. It’ll pair automatically and stay connected while plugged in.
How to connect your controller to a Windows PC
You can connect with a cable, Bluetooth®, or a wireless adapter.
To connect with a cable:
- Plug a USB-C cable into the controller and your PC.
- Windows will auto-detect and install the driver.
- You’re ready to play.
To connect via Bluetooth:
- Make sure your PC supports Bluetooth.
- Press and hold the Pair button on your controller until the light flashes.
- On your PC, go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device, then select Bluetooth.
- Choose Xbox Wireless Controller from the list.
To connect using the Xbox Wireless Adapter:
- Plug the adapter into your PC’s USB port.
- Turn on your controller.
- Press the Pair button on the adapter, then the controller.
How to connect your controller to an iPhone or Android phone
Use Bluetooth to connect your Xbox controller to a mobile device:
- Hold the Pair button on your controller until the light flashes.
- Open Bluetooth settings on your phone.
- Select Xbox Wireless Controller from the list.
Once connected, you can use it for mobile games that support controllers or cloud gaming with Xbox Game Pass™.
