You may be wondering, “can I print from my iPad?" The answer is yes, and there are several ways to print a document, photo, or email from your iPad®, including the easiest way— using AirPrint®.
At Asurion, we help you get the most out of your tech—whether you want to speed up your slow phone or get rid of a computer virus. Here's our guide for how to print from your iPad with or without AirPrint.
How to print from your iPad with AirPrint
AirPrint is the Apple® technology that allows you to print wirelessly—no need to install drivers—from Apple devices, like an iPhone®, iPod Touch®, or iPad Pro®. Follow these simple steps to print from your iPad using AirPrint:
- Make sure your printer supports AirPrint. (If you're not sure, check your owner's manual).
- Connect your device and printer to the same Wi-Fi network, and confirm they are within range. For help, see our guide on how to connect your printer to Wi-Fi.
- Find the document or photo you want to print.
- Tap the Share button (usually a square with an up arrow at the top or bottom of the screen), and select Print.
- The printer name should appear. Tap Select Printer. If you have more than one printer available, select the AirPrint-enabled printer.
- Select the number of copies or other options, and tap Print in the upper-right corner.

How to print from your iPad without AirPrint
If your printer doesn't support AirPrint, you can still connect your printer to your iPad. Here are some options:
Print from your iPad using third-party apps
Try downloading an app from your printer's manufacturer such as HP®, Canon®, or Lexmark® from the App Store. Once you've downloaded the app, here's how to print:
- Open the app you want to use to print.
- To find the print option, tap the app'sShare icon (usually a square with an up arrow) or tap (…)
- Scroll down and tap the Printericon or Print.
- Tap Select Printer.
- Select the number of copies or other options, and tap Print in the upper-right corner.
Print using your printer's email address
Another option is to print from your printer's email address (find it on the printer manufacturer's app), which is typically set up when you register the product. You also may be able to print using Bluetooth® on some mobile printers.
