Fast fix

To conceal your caller ID for a single outgoing call on your Android™, simply type *67 before entering the area code and phone number.

There are times you may want to make a call on your Android phone but keep your caller ID hidden. It’s easy to do this either by adjusting settings on your phone or typing in a simple code before each call. We’ll explain.

At Asurion, we share tips about how to make your devices work for you, whether your Google Pixel isn’t receiving texts or you want to use Android accessibility shortcuts. Here’s our guide on how to block your number on Android.

Why hide your caller ID?

Are you a public figure who wants to keep your phone number private? Maybe you’re calling a roommate you didn’t get along with, or you’re making an anonymous report and don’t want to leave a call-back number. In these situations, blocking the caller ID on your Android phone is an option.

When is it not an option to block caller ID?

While hiding your number on Android devices provides anonymity for most calls, keep in mind that certain numbers, like toll-free and emergency services numbers, can’t be blocked.

Use *67 to hide your caller ID

Are you wondering, “how do you private call someone?” Here’s the simplest way:

  1. Dial *67 on your keypad before typing in the area code and phone number.
  2. Your number will show up on the phone you’re calling as “Private” or “Blocked.”

Note: this only works for a single outgoing call.

Hide your number using Android settings

It may vary by carrier or device model, but you probably have the option to hide your caller ID when making calls on your Android by turning on the built-in Hide number feature. Try this:

  1. Open the Phone app.
  2. Open Settings > Supplementary services or Calls
  3. Under Caller ID, select Hide number or Never
  4. Your number will be hidden for all outgoing calls. To display your number for a specific call, type in *82 before you dial.

Hide your caller ID through your carrier

If simpler methods don’t work, your mobile carrier can help with how to block your number on Android for outgoing calls. Your carrier may offer an app or talk you through the process by phone or chat.

The terms can be confusing. Check out our guide to the difference between No Caller ID and Unknown Caller
