Why won't my Oculus connect to Wi-Fi?
Your Oculus headset might struggle to connect to Wi-Fi due to several reasons, such as weak signal strength, incorrect Wi-Fi settings, software bugs, or even hardware issues.
Troubleshooting Oculus Wi-Fi connection trouble
Now that we have an idea of what could be causing your connection problems, let’s go over a few steps to resolve them.
Restart your Oculus headset
A quick restart can often refresh the connection settings and resolve any temporary glitches. Hold the Power button for a few seconds and select Reboot when it appears. When the headset turns back on, try re-connecting to Wi-Fi.
Verify the Wi-Fi settings
Double-check that you are trying to connect to the correct network with the correct password. It’s easy to mix up networks, especially if you have multiple networks within reach.

Forget and reconnect to the Wi-Fi network
One way to strengthen your headset’s connection is to completely forget and then reconnect the network. This step helps your headset clear out glitches, disconnection errors, and connection interference that could be keeping your Oculus from connecting to Wi-Fi.
- Press the Oculus button.
- Once the menu appears, hover over the clock on the left side. Then, select Quick Settings.
- Select Wi-Fi > select the network > Forget this network. Re-connect by selecting the network and entering your password again.
Check your Wi-Fi network
The solution to your problem could be as simple as an internet disconnection. Make sure your router is on and broadcasting and that your Oculus headset is within a good range to receive a strong signal.
Test out your router
To troubleshoot connectivity issues, try a simple router restart. After it resets, try connecting to the internet with another device, such as your computer or tablet. If your home network can’t connect to the second device, your issue might be the router or an internet service issue. Reach out to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to check if your area is experiencing an outage.
Try connecting to another network
Give connecting to another internet network or mobile hotspot a try. This will help you determine whether the headset is having trouble recognizing one network or all networks. It’ll also come in handy for the next step.
Update your Oculus software
Software updates often include fixes for connectivity issues. You’ll need a connection to check for and download any pending updates. If you were able to connect your headset to another network or mobile hotspot, make sure your Oculus software is up to date.
To update the software from the Oculus headset:
- Press the Oculus button.
- Once the menu appears, hover over the clock on the left side. Then select Quick Settings.
- Select Settings > System > Software Update. If a new software version is available, you can download it.
